Best Food For French Bulldog? French Bulldogs have quite sensitive stomachs, and it is crucial to avoid certain foods. Discover how to feed your Frenchie.

Even though dogs share different dietary demands, French Bulldogs may also have to avoid certain foods due to genetic disorders or allergic reactions.

Some French bulldogs might have allergic reactions and dermatitis when eating the wrong food. French Bulldogs are prone to kidney stones due to too much protein throughout their diet.

Other health problems that can be traced to particular foods include indigestion, flatulence, joint issues, and heart disease.

French Bulldogs eat rapidly, and they’ll eat almost anything if left to their own devices.

Protein

The body uses protein for development and growth. Protein is a critical element of a dog’s diet, but Frenchies need less protein than other dog breeds. French Bulldog puppies can develop very rapidly, but too much protein will damage their musculoskeletal structures.

Frenchies are susceptible to obesity and shouldn’t be overweight. Furthermore, proteins that are not used as calories are deposited as fat. High protein may also trigger kidney stones in French bulldogs.

Obesity may exacerbate issues like hip dysplasia and trigger joint and cardiovascular disease.

Flatulence In French Bulldogs

Diet is the primary cause of excess flatulence in dogs. Frenchies will consume a lot of air while eating, adding to the flatulence. The flat face of French bulldogs may make the issue worse.

Feed your French Bulldog with little dry food so your Frenchie will be forced to eat more slowly. Table scraps may upset your French Bulldog’s belly. Foods that may cause flatulence include cabbage, peas, beans, dairy products, and fatty or spicy foods.

Toxic Foods

Some foods may make digestive issues worse. Some foods, such as chocolate, are poisonous to all dogs and should be from the presence of your Frenchie. Some of these ingredients are more hazardous to French bulldogs than most other breeds of dogs.

For instance, the consumed bread can expand in the abdomen and worsen your French Bulldogs’ breathing difficulties. Raisins and grapes may harm its kidneys, but French bulldogs are already genetically prone to kidney disease, so extra precautions should be taken.

Hops may trigger extremely elevated body temperatures in all dogs, and bulldog breeds are already extremely prone to heatstroke.

Recommendations

Select an excellent commercial dry dog food with meat as the first ingredient, and avoid soy because many French bulldogs are becoming allergic to it over time.

Please don’t allow your Frenchie to free feed as they will try to eat the whole lot in one go. Split their food into two or more meals daily to decrease the possibility of bloating. As with all animals, make sure they have a steady freshwater supply.
